A new month brings exciting new developments here at Eventjoy HQ. Earlier last week, we conducted our first internal Hackathon, where we decided to create a fun, new app for our event organizers. We ended up building what we call Community Walls, a standalone tool to help you visualize your event community as people sign up. The main goal of the hackathon was to build a new app utilizing only our public API functionality. Additionally, we wanted to open source whatever we built in order to help developers get started with our API for their own projects even faster.
Community Walls were designed to be put up as dashboards on screens like large TVs in an effort to keep you connected to your ever growing attendee community. When a Community Wall is running, it will animate and show information about your latest order after it happens. Things like the order total, ticket types sold, and the names of the attendees will be displayed. Not only that, when a new order comes in, we’ll play some fun sounds — like Yoda or a T-rex — that you can customize. We want to help organizers visualize their community with more than just raw numbers, but to actually see the amazing people that are attending their event.
To get started, you can launch the Community Walls in seconds from the Eventjoy App Center.
We had a blast in our first hackathon. Some of the fun was captured in the photos below:
We would love to hear from you: Tweet us @teameventjoy or drop us a line at feedback (AT) eventjoy (DOT) com to let us know how you’re using the Community Wall.
